Why do you think he "let himself go"?

DSH 92 Asked: Why do you think he "let himself go"?I love my friend Joey like crazy, but he has let himself go. Freshman year he was a little over weight, but had a groomed look (hair cut often and looked like he showered). First semester of Sophomore year he looked the same. However second semester onward (about a year or so now) he has lost it completely. He has gained more weight, no longer cuts his hair often (it looks bad), now wears glasses, has acne, and he doesn't look like he showers. He seems normal, but on occasion I will ask him if everything is okay and he says
