Annie's day progressed very slowly, considering that not many people were very friendly towards the new Wilmer High student (except for the acne-troubled baritone player, Steve, but Annie had declined his offer to sit with his friends at lunch). She managed to make it through the day without dropping any books, without bumping into the wrong set of cliques, without getting lost even. It was lunchtime now, and she had bought a plate of greasily drenched French fries from the hot lunch line. Her dilemma now was finding a worthy seat.
